Darmstadt is a city near Frankfurt in southwest Germany. It’s known for the Mathildenhöhe district's art nouveau buildings, like the iconic Wedding Tower. Museum Künstlerkolonie features art nouveau glass, textiles and jewelry. Hessisches Landesmuseum displays art by Joseph Beuys. Northeast, the Messel Pit has Eocene-era fossils. To the south is ruined Frankenstein Castle, which may have inspired the famed book.

An engine driver pulls the emergency brake- too late : the young man on the tracks, the student Claus Wagner ( Till Topf ) is dead. Commissioner Löschner investigates in his surroundings and interrogates Claus' parents, schoolmates and his girlfriend Inge ( Ute Christensen ) . What had driven the student to his act of desperation ? Within self-contained flashbacks, Claus' tragical story is told from different points of view. Just as in a kaleidoscope, seemingly equal fragments appear in six epsiodes in always new, surprising cohesions. Only at the end, to concurrence of all events becomes visible, all the moments of failure and deception that eventually drove Claus Wagner to suicide. As a result of Löschner's investigations, there only remains to say, that " some people might need to talk with themselves" ... ( cited from the description of the DVD )
