São Paulo, Brazil’s vibrant financial center, is among the world's most populous cities, with numerous cultural institutions and a rich architectural tradition. Its iconic buildings range from its neo-Gothic cathedral and the 1929 Martinelli skyscraper to modernist architect Oscar Niemeyer’s curvy Edifício Copan. The colonial-style Pátio do Colégio church marks where Jesuit priests founded the city in 1554.

Plot summary

Tríade begins in the decade of 1970, amidst the repression of the military regime, where the protagonist, Lucas, is taken under arrest due to subversion. The story unfolds then into the nineties, where the action develops. It is during that period that Lucas, now a middle-aged teacher, runs into Marisa, an ex-girlfriend from college times, of whom he was separated due to his arrest. Both now seek for a new relationship, but the romance soon proves itself frustrated. That's when the young and captivating Julia, one of Lucas' students at prep school, steps into the scene, as they engage an exciting love affair. Though apparently irrelevant to the girl, the difference between their ages is a matter of constant disturbance in Lucas' mind, who shares his afflictions with Caco, his best friend. Soon, they all realize that the intergenerational aspect isn't the only obstacle to be overcome in their relationship. It is around this time that the narrative will touch the archaeological theme of passion as a tragic and destructive force. Using an unusual approach for a classic theme, Tríade drives us into a growing thrill as it unfolds, resulting in a lyric, transforming, yet disturbing outcome.
