Virginie Filming Locations
Montréal is the largest city in Canada's Québec province. It’s set on an island in the Saint Lawrence River and named after Mt. Royal, the triple-peaked hill at its heart. Its boroughs, many of which were once independent cities, include neighbourhoods ranging from cobblestoned, French colonial Vieux-Montréal – with the Gothic Revival Notre-Dame Basilica at its centre – to bohemian Plateau.
Virginie (1996)
Virginie Boivin (Chantal Fontaine), a young teacher at Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc High School in Quebec (Canada), experiences highs and lows in her class of struggling students, both at school in general and in her private life. Then another Virginie makes her debut: Virginie Charest (Stéphanie Crête-Blais), a physical-education teacher. She comes to Virginie Boivin as a youth, bringing intrigues involving her parents, her deficient sister, her military lover, and more secrets. Coming to school at the same time as Virginie Charest is Virginie Maltais (Julianne Côté), a student with a more-than-controlling mother, who gets involved in the school student council. Author Fabienne Larouche decided to end the 15 years of the 'Virginie' series with the presentation of an imposing conventum: the closure of the school is imminent, and Hercule Belhumeur wants to bring together the students of the last 40 years of Ste-Jeanne-D'Arc school.
