Morocco, a North African country bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, is distinguished by its Berber, Arabian and European cultural influences. Marrakesh’s medina, a mazelike medieval quarter, offers entertainment in its Djemaa el-Fna square and souks (marketplaces) selling ceramics, jewelry and metal lanterns. The capital Rabat’s Kasbah of the Udayas is a 12th-century royal fort overlooking the water.

France, in Western Europe, encompasses medieval cities, alpine villages and Mediterranean beaches. Paris, its capital, is famed for its fashion houses, classical art museums including the Louvre and monuments like the Eiffel Tower. The country is also renowned for its wines and sophisticated cuisine. Lascaux’s ancient cave drawings, Lyon’s Roman theater and the vast Palace of Versailles attest to its rich history.

Plot summary

Zeft is a Moroccan movie directed by Tayeb Saddiki, released in 1984, adapted from the play by the same author "Sidi Yassine Fi Tariq" (Mr Yassine on the road) (1965). It is the story of the peasant Bouazza, happy and without apparent problems, who sees his life turned upside down by an event that is stirring the whole village. Indeed, an old man who died at a respectable age, was revered as a sacred "Marabout" by the villagers led by Khali Addi, brother of the deceased endowed with a formidable sense of trade. And it is on the small plot of Bouazza that they decide to raise a sanctuary to the newly promoted saint. The drama lived by Bouazza does not disturb the life of the village, until a terrible drought occurs which affects the whole region. Bouazza becomes the target of the Angry villagers while processions are organized to demand the clemency of the sky. But apparently, everything is moving towards a happy ending. The villagers are working, those who have hoped to leave find themselves emigrated to Paris, the mausoleum is over, the rain revives the earth - Only Bouazza dispossessed his house took a nomadic life on a cart and goes straight ahead.
